Sunday Funday at the National Whitewater Center

Sunday Funday!

Brent and I decided to take the dogs to the National Whitewater Center here in Charlotte (and only a few miles from our house) Sunday afternoon. The National Whitewater Center has a variety of activities to choose from......kayaking, white water rafting, zip lines, mountain biking trails, and walking trails. We walked the river loop and watched all of the kayakers and rafters go through the course. Sam loved it!!! He had a great time sitting on the edge of the bank watching the water and people. Millie had to warm up to the idea as she is not a huge "water" fan. After the first lap, the dogs were comfortable and began meeting and greeting with folks while we walked. We have definitely found a great place to take the dogs and have a relaxing Sunday!

Jimmy Buffett and Queens Cup!

We started off the summer by attending the Queen's Cup Horse Race and the Jimmy Buffett concert. Both events were filled with good friends, drinks, and lots of laughs! The weather for the Jimmy Buffett concert was absolutely perfect and admiring all of the crazy tailgates was entertaining to say the least. We were fortunate for the Queen's Cup, to sit at a table two rows behind the track and right across from the finish line!

One Year Anniversary Trip

For our one year anniversary, Brent booked a bed and breakfast in Beaufort, NC. It was perfect!!!! We had wonderful meals, took a sunset cruise and carriage ride, relaxed at the beach and walked through the quaint town. We will definitely be heading back!

SNOW!!!

After several inadequate attempts to predict snow in the Charlotte area, the weatherman finally got it right!!!! Sam and Millie experienced snow for the first time! Sam was intriqued as soon as he saw the snow begin to fall. He went to the back door to watch the snow fall and then went to the dining room window to see if the snow was falling out front too! Millie was not as interested as her big brother. She decided she would be more comfortable laying on her big bed near the fire (smart dog). After dinner, we got bundled up and played in the snow. Millie is still not a fan and Sammy does not understand the difference between snowballs and his tennis balls! We had a great time.

Millie ready for SNOW!!!!

Recchi came out to see what all the fuss was about!

Sarah's Baby Shower

This past Saturday, some ladies in the neighborhood and I hosted a baby shower for Sarah! It was a lot of fun having everyone get together to celebrate baby girl Pohlman! We are all looking forward to meeting her in March. I enjoyed seeing and catching up with everyone, and of course eating all of the yummy treats!!!!

Race Day!

One of the events for the teams playing in the Meinke Car Care Bowl is a day at the Lowe's Motor Speedway. Brent assists with this event, and this year I was able to tag along!!! Once all of the players had their turn around the track with the drivers, they allow the volunteers to go for a ride. I LOVED IT and would do it again in a heart beat!!!! I was the lead car and had a blast! The driver went 175 mph, which is 20 mph less than what a driver does on race day. I have a new appreciation for race car drivers!!!!

Brent all geared up!
